President’s Message – March 2024

Greetings to all,

What could be more fun than a Spring Membership Drive Contest? Let’s have a little sport with this as we compete against each other to bring in new members from now until the June meeting. Along the way, together we can achieve the goal of getting our membership numbers back up to 80 or more for the good health of our organization. Last year we made great strides in growing our membership. It was a successful period of post-pandemic rebuilding. We aim to add at least a dozen more new members. At 80 or more members SME committees are easily staffed, we have an ample number of dues paying members and honestly – everything just fits together nicely all the way around. I hope everyone will participate and join in the friendly competition. We help each other by making SME the best it can be as we participate. Scroll down to see details about the Membership Drive Competition. Who will seize the top prize? Winners will be announced at the Membership Appreciation picnic during the June meeting.

SME Live is almost here! I trust you saved this important date to attend your morning-long SME seminar. You, as a member of SME are helping to host this for our community on Tuesday, April 23rd at Topeka Civic Theatre. Now is time for you to claim your FREE ticket that you receive as a member. You must go on the SME website and register to attend SME Live by Friday March 8. After Friday, March 8 – all tickets will be released for sale to the general public.

With your ticket to attend – you also receive the opportunity to get your personalized Kolbe Index A score at a 20% discounted rate. SME negotiated a deal with Kolbe to extend this offer not only to all SME Live attendees, but additionally it is extended to the attendee’s work team or work organization too. This $44.00 special price is good for a short time before SME Live through May 10th. Have your whole staff get their Kolbe Index score and use the results for team building in your office, and to promote personal growth and self-awareness among your staff. Support a path of continued improvement. This instinct assessment is so powerful you’ll discover the foundation for everything you do moving forward. Kolbe measures your instinctive way of doing things and the result is called your MO (method of operation). It is the only validated assessment that measures a person’s conative strengths. Unlike any other assessment or quizzes you’ve likely taken, Kolbe gets directly at how people execute, not their IQ or personality. Learn how to focus your time and energy to be more productive and achieve your goals. Learn how to stop doing things that don’t work for you.

SME Live is the second of your SME organization’s two annual fundraisers. There are a few slots remaining for sponsorships. Let us know at info@smetopeka.org if your company would like to be a corporate sponsor or if you know of someone who may appreciate being asked to participate in this way. Sponsors receive a great ticket package and are recognized in all of the publicity. SME counts on sponsorship investments to make the seminar viable for the public and we appreciate the opportunity to partner in this way.

It is my pleasure to share that Chris St. John was named as the Executive of the Month for March. Read about how he has stepped up time and time again to help out in the most practical ways and the committees that he is participating on. You can learn more about Chris in the article below. Please join me in sharing your congratulations to Chris when you next see him.

The owner and editor of seveneightfive magazine, Kerrice Mapes is our March dinner meeting speaker. We are excited to have this marketing pro share her best tips and strategies with you! She can also give you the inside scoop on several community projects she is working on. Come enjoy a fun evening with your SME friends and hear her story. Don’t forget to bring a prospective member as your guest to the meeting. We will kick off our membership contest that night. We will also be asking you to firm up your plans for SME Live registration.

Best wishes to all,

Jeannie
